With diverse and well-rounded programs, the Division of Dance at the University of Calgary gives students the opportunity to explore dance from multiple perspectives. Our students can delve into choreography, performance, technique and improvisation, explore dance production, pedagogy, theory and history, or combine their Dance degree with a second degree in Education or Kinesiology. As part of these programs, students have the option to register for the Healthy Dance Practice Certificate (HDPC). The knowledge and practical experience required to successfully complete the HDPC is embedded within specific university courses, in which students gain understanding and application of the core principles of safe dance practice for teaching across multiple levels and styles of dance.
